Every month, Whitefriars Church, Rushden, organises short local countryside walks (of about four miles) that are open to people of all ages and fitness levels, whether alone, or as part of a couple or a family. Here are details of our next events



A TWYWELL TROT - Sunday 19th April (third Sunday of the month due to Easter). This will be a 3 to 4 mile circular walk in formerly quarried countryside between Cranford and Twywell. Meet at Whitefriars Primary School, Boughton Drive, Rushden, NN10 9HX from 9.30 for a 9.45am departure, or at the entrance to the Twywell Hills and Dales car park, NN14 3AL (off the road to Cranford, near the A14 junction) in time for a 10.30 start.


A KEYSOE KANTER - Sunday 10th May - a 3 to 4 mile walk on footpaths in the Bedfordshire countryside between Keysoe and Thurleigh. Meet at Whitefriars at 9.30 for a 9.45am departure, or in the road outside Keysoe Church (St Mary the Virgin), MK44 2HW, on a loop road off the Bedford to Kimbolton Road (B660), in time to leave at 10.30.


A LEATHERY LAP OF RUSHDEN - Sunday 14th June – a walk of 2 to 3 miles to visit some of main locations associated with Rushden’s boot & shoe making heritage, and including a bit of countryside. Part of Celebrate Rushden Week. Meet at the front of Rushden Hall in Hall Park, NN10 9NG from 10.15am in time to leave at 10.30. The car park is accessible from Hall Avenue/St Mary’s Avenue.



Our home group/discussion group continues to meet fortnightly (usually) from 8pm on Thursday evenings at 3 Duchy Close, Chelveston, NN9 6AW. All are welcome - please contact us, or Ken or Sara Owst (01933 460097), if interested.
